Unlikely Heroes of Fallcrest
Founded 300 years ago along the banks of the Nentir Falls, by Aranda Markelhay, an adventurer from the Nerathan Empire. Though it’s the largest town in the area, and a prominent trade center, it’s still rather small compared to its former glory. Around a hundred years ago, Nerath (the large empire to the south) began to fall into decline. This had a major destabilizing effect in the region, and the roads became more dangerous. Not long after, the Bloodspear Orcs came down from the Stonemarch, raiding and pillaging the area. Fallcrest’s army was overconfident and attacked the orcs out on the Gardbury Downs, instead of relying on the safety of Fallcrest’s walls. It ended in disaster. The army was routed, and Fallcrest was looted and burned. Though the city has once again become a hub of trade for cities like Winterhaven, Hammerfast, and the Harkenwold, it has failed to achieve its former prominence.
